The National Meeting, held on 12th June 2003 at the MacDonald Inchyra Hotel, Falkirk, was the first National conference for keyworkers actively involved in the Study. The aim of the meeting was to provide keyworkers with an opportunity to share good practice; network; receive feedback on the Study’s progress; and provide feedback to the Study Team. The conference was chaired by Dr. Bob Hunter, the project’s convenor, and was a highly successful event. The morning speakers began by setting the scene of the national perspective, placing SSOS within the context of NHS Quality Improvement Scotland and phase 2 of their CSBS Schizophrenia Review, as well as within the context of the Improving Mental Health Information Programme. This was followed by presentations covering organisational and team level participation in SSOS. The morning session was concluded with a paper discussing service user involvement. After lunch the delegates split into four workshop groups intended to allow keyworkers to disseminate their practice. Each workshop began with a presentation from keyworker(s) who discussed the impact of SSOS upon their personal, and their team’s, use of Outcome Measures (OMs). The ensuing discussion surrounded four main points:
The day was concluded with presentations looking at the role of Integrated Care Pathways (ICPs), an update on the progress of the Study to date and feedback on the Phase 1 data. The SSOS Team wish to thank all those who contributed to making the National Meeting a success. A copy of the programme, along with all the presentations, is available here. |
